I wouldn't do it if you expect to get paid for every moment of work you do. The field of Psychiatry is loaded with those motivated by money and it causes MASS societal problems. I would only get into psych if you are motivated by helping individuals or society. You can do anything with it. Psych is unique in that it leaks into every kind of enterprise you could imagine. How can we have physics without perception? I think you would have pretty good chances of getting in, undergrad psych education is about broadness and variety so you can find what you want to do in grad school, the only skills you learn (which are very easy and straight forward to pick up) are statistics and how to run experiments. Oh and you get really good at reading extremely dense papers ;)
