Staffing News from NSF: Job Application Deadline is Soon!

NSF would like to thank Dr. Sally Dickerson for her three years of outstanding service to the Social Psychology program. Dr. Dickerson has rotated out as Program Director, and began a new position as Associate Provost for Sponsored Research at Pace University in New York City this fall. Dr. Tamera Schneider from Wright State University (tschneid@nsf.gov) is the newest rotator for Social Psychology, joining Dr. Kerry Marsh (kmarsh@nsf.gov) from University of Connecticut in directing the Social Psychology Program. We are now hiring a new Program Director for Social Psychology to start in fall 2016! The deadline for applications is October 20th; please see the ad at:

https://www.usajobs.gov/GetJob/ViewDetails/416534400

It is a fantastic experience to serve as a Program Director for Social Psychology; we encourage you to talk to us if you would like to learn about our experience serving as rotators.

Upcoming Grant Proposal Deadlines

The Social Psychology Program reminds researchers that the Social Psychology Program description page at NSF provides details about submitting grant proposals:

http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=5712

Note upcoming deadlines in October, December, and February for three other NSF programs:

SBE Postdoctoral Research Fellowships (NSF 14-595) deadline: October 26, 2015
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=504810&org=SMA&from=home
The Directorate for Social, Behavioral & Economic Sciences at NSF annually funds two different postdoctoral research fellowships tracks for individuals who have recently received their Ph.D., or will have done so by late August 2016. Fellowships can be submitted with a focus on Broadening Participation (BP) or with an Interdisciplinary (IBSS) focus.

Interdisciplinary Behavioral and Social Sciences (IBSS) Program (NSF 15-588) deadline: December 1, 2015
http://www.nsf.gov/pubs/2015/nsf15588/nsf15588.pdf
IBSS supports large ($1M) and small ($300K) interdisciplinary projects that involve scientists from two or more disciplinary fields within the Social, Behavioral, and Economic (SBE) Sciences Directorate at the National Science Foundation. Proposals addressing one of three areas: sources and consequences of disparities; technology, new media & social networks; and population change are particularly encouraged, though proposals on other topics will also be considered.

RIDIR Program (NSF 15-602) deadline: February 29, 2016
http://www.nsf.gov/funding/pgm_summ.jsp?pims_id=505168
Resource Implementations for Data Intensive Research in the SBE Sciences (RIDIR) supports database and analytic tool development proposals that contribute to the development of user-friendly, large-scale, next-generation data resources and analytic techniques. Proposals that extend beyond a single discipline and have potential broad generalizability or extendibility are particularly encouraged.
