Position Summary:

Responsible for maximizing the ability of the Northern California Region of Kaiser Permanente to shift its culture to support its strategy of quality and service differentiation and becoming the employer of choice. This position has accountability for:
• Providing expertise, consultation and guidance to design and implement the culture change;
• Coaching senior leaders in how to lead a successful culture change;
• Ensuring that strategies and initiatives in the organization are aligned with the culture objectives;
• Transferring knowledge of change management and culture change to leadership.

Education/License/Certification:

Ph.D. in Psychology, Organization Development, Organizational Behavior or related fields.

Qualifications:

Expertise in behavioral sciences, organization development, leadership development, change management and culture change. Knowledge of personality and social psychology, particularly in areas of motivation and change. Previous work experience (5+ years) consulting to complex organizations across a range of industries. Previous work experience (5+ years) coaching senior level executives. Management experience a plus. Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated political savvy and emotional intelligence.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in healthcare

Duties: Will have accountability in the following four areas:

1. Systemic/Strategic Alignment:
• Guide and provide expertise for planning the design and implementation of a service culture.
• Guide the planning efforts to target front-line managers for culture change.
• Ensure alignment among entities/functions regarding culture change.

2. Individual Executive Coaching:
Coach leaders (Physicians-in-Chief, Medical Group Administrators, Labor Leaders, Vice Presidents and Service Area Leaders) in leadership skills, change management and culture change, including how to:
• Build trust and credibility;
• Reach and motivate managers, chiefs, and front-line physicians and staff;
• Form and lead high-performing teams;
• Make wise and timely decisions that support the service culture.
• Work as needed with the SVP Service Enhancement in planning and implementing a service culture.

3. Coordination:
• Ensure Leadership Development, Management Development, and Career Development efforts are aligned with the culture change.
• Work with LMP, KFHP/H and TPMG to facilitate alignment of culture change efforts.
• Consult to Compensation, Benefits, Recruiting, and other HR areas to ensure alignment with culture change.
• Help broker and coordinate external consultants/coaches to keep them aligned with culture objectives.

4. Member of Strategy and Culture Alignment Team:
• Collaborate with team members to share best practices and ensure continuity of client coaching.
• Work with colleagues when needed to provide highest-quality coaching.
• Contribute to on-going knowledge acquisition of the department.
