RESEARCH ASSOCIATE, PART-TIME OR FULL-TIME
(BOSTON, MA)

OVERVIEW
A part-time or full-time Research Associate is required to work closely with Principal Investigator (Susan David, Health Emotions and Behavior Laboratory, Yale University) on several projects involving emotions/emotional intelligence, employee effectiveness, organizational performance, and well-being. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a degree/degrees in Psychology, Business or the social sciences to gain further academic experience and to assist in communicating research findings to non-scientific audiences and organizational clients.

The Associate would work in a supportive and informal small office in Watertown, MA, a few miles from Boston. A flexible schedule is possible.

JOB ROLE
Research Design, Data Collection and Communication of Results (approx. 60%), including:
• Literature searches
• Developing study hypotheses and materials
• Managing a reference database
• Participating in research planning and design
• Serving as co-investigator
• Data coding, reduction and statistical analysis
• Contacting, establishing, and developing relationships with research community and with data sources
• Researching materials and information
• Writing and editing IRB and grant applications, proposals, professional reports, research instruments, chapters, speeches, handbooks, research articles, and correspondence
• Developing a newsletter and related communications

Administrative Support for Projects and Consulting in Research Areas (40%) including:
• Designing and formatting spreadsheets, graphs and charts
• Addressing product and service enquiries
• Coordinating and emailing confidential materials to clients
• Coordinating training events
• Composing and managing correspondence

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
• A minimum of an undergraduate degree in Psychology, Business or a closely related field, with a higher qualification preferable.
• Excellent numeric, written, and oral communication skills.
• Excellent skills in research design and statistics including SPSS.
• Advanced skills in MS Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.

PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
We require someone who is self-motivated and energetic with excellent communication skills. The ideal candidate is proactive, enthusiastic, has good time management and prioritization skills, and is able to take projects through to completion.

Must be able to function independently and communicate effectively with the PI, her collaborators, colleagues, and clients.

Summer Street, Watertown, MA

START DATE:
October/November, 2006

COMPENSATION:
$37,330 to $52,000 commensurate with qualifications and experience
