The Canada Research Chair on Motivation and Academic Success (www.motivation.chaire.ulaval.ca) announces a one-year postdoctoral research fellowship position in educational psychology starting January 2007. This position is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Faculty of Educational Sciences at the Université Laval, and the Canada Research Chair program.

The research projects of the Canada Research Chair on Motivation and Academic Success aim to answer, among other things, the following questions: Which variables of school and family environments foster students’ motivation? Do friends’ behaviours and values facilitate students’ academic motivation? Do the extracurricular activities contribute to students’ motivation and success at school?

The postdoctoral fellow will work closely with Professor Frédéric Guay. Professor Guay is a full member of the Research unit on children's psychosocial maladjustment (GRIP). Thus, the postdoctoral fellow will also work in partnership with other members of the GRIP including Simon Larose, Michel Boivin, Frank Vitaro, and Richard E. Tremblay.

Required competence:
(a) Ph.D. in education or in psychology
(b) Significant research background
(c) Significant statistical expertises on the analysis of longitudinal data
(d) Strong English writing skills

Conditions of employment:
(a) An annual stipend of 35 000$ (Canadian) per year is provided (renewable for one more year).
(b) The fellow must work closely with the chairholder.
(c) The fellow will have an office and a computer.
(d) The fellow must make a strong commitment to publish results of his/her research.

Université Laval is a French-speaking University but the fellow does not need to speak French to be admissible to the position.
