The School of Information Studies at Syracuse University seeks a postdoctoral researcher to conduct research on the organizational impacts of information systems. This 12-24 month position begins August 20, 2001. Salary is competitive with similar post-doctoral positions and will include a cost of living increase in the second year. An excellent fringe benefits package is included. The position is supported by a grant from the National Science Foundation.

The School seeks a researcher who combines knowledge, interest, and research experience in organizational behavior and information technology. Candidates should have background and research competence in one or more of the following areas: organizational behavior, job attitudes, the management of information-based organizations, management information systems, human-computer interaction, field research methods, survey research, qualitative research, or information systems functions.

Applicants should meet all of the following qualifications: Recently earned Ph.D. (or other doctorate; ABD will be considered assuming completion prior to 8/20/01) in industrial- organizational psychology, management, human resources, management information systems, social psychology, sociology, communications, or a related field. Experience and willingness to contact and recruit participant organizations by phone, email, and in person. Excellence in scholarly writing and oral presentation. Interest and desire to author/co-author journal publications, books, and conference papers. Appreciation of interdisciplinary nature of information systems research and ability to integrate multiple disciplinary perspectives.

The School of Information Studies, located in the Center for Science and Technology, is a leading university center in advancing both the theory and practice of information resources/systems management. The School's academic and research programs are based on an interdisciplinary approach to information and technology. Faculty members have formal training in several cognate areas including organizational psychology, computer science, information management, MIS, communication, telecommunications, engineering, economics, information science, and library science. The School provides five nationally recognized degree programs: a Bachelor of Science in Information Management and Technology, a Master of Library Science, a Master of Science in Information Resources Management, a Master of Science in Telecommunications and Network Management, and a Ph.D. in Information Transfer.
