Two doctoral fellowships, Department of Psychology, New School for Social Research, New York, USAApplications are being accepted for two full-time research positions, to start September 2006. The successful candidates should plan to pursue their PhDs in the Psychology department at the New School for Social Research while working under the supervision of Dr. Emanuele Castano on a National Science Foundation funded research project. The title of the research project is "The Effect of Ingroup Reprehensible Actions: Collective Emotions and Moral Disengagement." Details on the project and its funding are available upon request.

Of importance is (1) interest in social identity processes and intergroup relations, (2) the capacity to think abstractly and communicate clearly, (3) a command of experimental methodology and of statistics, (4) experience in conducting research in social psychology. An interest in pursuing an academic career is also valued.

Please note that, in order to pursue a PhD, the candidates must be admitted to the graduate program of the Department of Psychology. Applications to the graduate program are due January 15. Although successful candidates will be helped through the process, application to the graduate program is independent from application to these fellowships.
