Post-doctoral Fellowship Position

The Social Network Methods Section of the Social and Behavioral Research Branch (SBRB) in the National Human Genome Research Institute at the National Institutes of Health is seeking applicants for our postdoctoral training program to join an interdisciplinary team of faculty and research fellows. Researchers in the SBRB investigate a broad array of research questions related to the social and behavioral implications of genomic discoveries for health promotion, disease prevention, genetic counseling and health care improvements. The mission of the Social Network Methods Section focuses on the development of social network methodologies to measure and model the complexities of social systems, the utilization of these models to understand the psychological, social, and communicative context of families at risk for hereditary disease, and the translation of this understanding into effective network-based interventions that facilitate the delivery of genetic counseling services and dissemination of genetic risk information.

Post-doctoral fellows will be expected to collaborate on ongoing research projects in the Section. Fellows will also have the opportunity to complete research projects that are tailored to their own interests. Applicants must have completed their doctoral training within the last 5 years or less. The starting date can be flexible. The fellowship includes a competitive salary, benefits, and a professional travel stipend.

To learn more about the SBRB’s research mission and ongoing research, see the Social and Behavioral Research Branch Web page at: www.genome.gov/11508935. The NIH Research and Training Opportunities website (http://www.training.nih.gov/) provides a wealth of information on postdoctoral training at the NIH.
