The Department of Psychology at THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI (http://www.olemiss.edu) invites applications for two tenure-track positions at the assistant professor level in CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY and SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY to begin in August 2000. For the clinical psychology position, area of specialization is open, but applicants should have active research programs and should be strongly committed to the scientist-practitioner model in both their research and clinical pursuits. For the social psychology position, we encourage applications from persons with research interests in the area of emotion; however, area of specialization within social psychology is open. Applicants for either position must be able to contribute, in the form of teaching and research supervision, to the undergraduate and graduate programs. Candidates should have a record of research productivity and a plan for developing and maintaining a substantive research program. Women and minority candidates are particularly urged to apply. The Department of Psychology at The University of Mississippi has 15 full-time faculty members, offers the Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology (APA-accredited) and Experimental Psychology (concentrations in behavioral neuroscience, cognitive psychology, and social psychology), and has a large number of undergraduate majors. The University is located in Oxford, which has been consistently ranked as one of the top small college towns in the U.S. Interested persons should send a brief cover letter, a curriculum vitae, summary evidence of teaching effectiveness, a description of research interests, selected preprints or reprints, and three letters of reference to Chair, (Clinical or Social) Search Committee, Department of Psychology, The University of Mississippi, University, MS 38677.
