Assistant Professor of Marketing

The University of Hong Kong, School of Business is inviting application for appointment as Assistant Professor in Marketing, tenable from August 1, 2005, or as soon as possible thereafter. The appointment is for a full-time, tenure-track position with an initial three-year fixed-term and renewable contract.

Applicants should have a doctoral degree in the fields of marketing or psychology, and be able to demonstrate strong potential for research excellence, with good teaching skills. Preference will be given to those who work in the research areas of consumer behavior and services. The appointee is expected to commit to high quality scholarly research and to teach both undergraduate and graduate courses in Consumer Behavior, Principles of Marketing, and Strategic Marketing Management. The HKSAR government, University and School provide ample research grants to support vibrant research programs targeting publication in premier journals. The typical teaching load for a tenure-track assistant professor at the School is three courses per year.

Starting annual salary is around HK$539,532 (approximately US$1 = HK$7.8) commensurate with experience. The appointment will provide a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary. The appointment also carries leave and medical/dental benefits. The provision of housing benefits (where applicable) is subjected to review. At current rates, salary tax does not exceed 15.5% of gross income.
