SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT. The Psychology Department at LEHIGH UNIVERSITY invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor level, effective Fall 2005. We seek candidates whose interests situate development in social and cultural contexts (from families, classrooms, workplaces, and relationships to racial or gender subcultures and other cross-cultural arenas). Specific area of expertise is open, but candidates with a sociocultural perspective on the development of mind and self -- including (but not limited to) such areas as emotional development, identity, self and social understanding, peer relations and peer culture, and/or social competence -- are especially encouraged to apply. Candidates with applied developmental interests in these areas are also welcome, and strength in quantitative or qualitative methods is a plus. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a vigorous research program that will attract external funding and contribute to the department's distinctive undergraduate and Ph.D. programs (see www.lehigh.edu/~inpsy/inpsy.html). Ability to contribute to interdisciplinary programs such as Women’s Studies, Global Development and Social Change, or Cognitive Science is also important. Please send a vita, statements of research and teaching interests, representative papers, and three letters of reference to: Ageliki Nicolopoulou, Social Development Search Committee, Department of Psychology, 17 Memorial Drive East, Lehigh University, Bethlehem PA 18015 3068. Review of applications will begin November 1. Lehigh University is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer.
