The University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law seeks to hire a law professor to join its nationally-renowned Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution. The ideal candidate for this tenured or tenure-track position will possess a J.D. or the equivalent, a Ph.D. in a social science discipline (e.g., Economics, Political Science, Psychology) or the equivalent, training in empirical research methodologies, university-level teaching experience, and a demonstrated interest in conducting empirical research on dispute resolution topics (e.g., negotiation, mediation, arbitration, plea bargaining, litigation, courts).

The successful candidate for this position will teach dispute resolution and other law courses open to J.D. and/or LL.M. students, conduct empirical research on dispute resolution topics, pursue external funding for research support, provide consultative research guidance to law faculty who wish to engage in empirical research, and serve as a Senior Fellow of the Center.

The University of Missouri-Columbia School of Law, a J.D. and LL.M.-granting institution, is home to 34 full-time faculty and approximately 550 students. The Law School will offer an LL.M. in dispute resolution beginning in Fall 1999, with an entering class of approximately 15 students. The Dispute Resolution/Social Science position is one of four new full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty positions made available to the Law School through significant University and Missouri General Assembly funding.
