Research Title Faculty Position

The University of Kentucky Center on Drug and Alcohol Research is seeking a Research Assistant Professor. The Center, established in 1990, operates under the auspices of the Vice President for Research. The Center serves as the focal point for research into the biological, psychological, socio-cultural and clinical aspects of substance abuse. The Center is seeking a Research Assistant Professor to work on substance abuse projects defining critical epidemiology research areas in drug use/abuse, particularly in rural areas, identifying extramural funding opportunities for epidemiology studies of prescription drug use/abuse and providing conceptual and methodological expertise to other researchers interested in the collaborative epidemiology studies and interventions studies on drug use/abuse. The position is in the non-tenured research title series with an appointment in the Department of Behavioral Science. The position is located in Lexington, Kentucky known for its quality of life. Lexington is a growing community of approximately 330,000 with excellent schools, diverse business and industry, excellent recreational opportunities, and a variety of cultural events. The Assistant Professor will also be encouraged to carry out independent research on drug and alcohol issues and the needs of Kentucky populations, evaluate interventions and provide technical assistance to communities. Candidates should qualify for faculty appointment in the Department of Behavioral Science. A terminal degree with two years of experience is suggested. Competitive candidates will have demonstrated an ability to carry out research and be able to effectively communicate with research staff and with program personnel.
