The Department of Psychological and Brain Sciences at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (http://www.umass.edu/pbs/) is inviting applications for a tenure-track faculty position at the Assistant Professor level in its Social Psychology program, starting in Fall 2018.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Social Psychology or a related discipline, an excellent record of research with a productive, federally-funded research program or evidence of the ability to establish one, a strong record of publishing in high impact peer-reviewed journals, and a strong commitment to undergraduate education and graduate training.

Applicants whose research focuses on stress, resilience, health, or health disparities, and especially their connection to race/ethnicity in ways that link to African American Studies or Latin American Studies are particularly encouraged to apply. Use of multi-method approaches to studying these issues is a plus, which might include behavioral and/or physiological methods (e.g., cardiovascular, hormonal, EEG, or fMRI measures).

Applications should include a cover letter, statement of research interests and teaching interests, curriculum vitae, sample publications and contact information of three references. We will begin to review applications on October 10, 2017, and will continue to accept applications until the position is filled. Please submit materials online to:

The university is committed to active recruitment of a diverse faculty and student body. The University of Massachusetts Amherst is an Affirmative Action/Equal Opportunity Employer of women, minorities, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities and encourages applications from these and other protected group members. Because broad diversity is essential to an inclusive climate and critical to the University's goals of achieving excellence in all areas, we will holistically assess the many qualifications of each applicant and favorably consider an individual's record working with students and colleagues with broadly diverse perspectives, experiences, and backgrounds in educational, research or other work activities. We will also favorably consider experience overcoming or helping others overcome barriers to an academic degree and career.
We are seeking talented applicants qualified for an assistant professor position. Under exceptional circumstances, highly qualified candidates at other ranks may receive consideration.
