Successful applicants will join a cluster of research excellence in Social, Social Development, and Personality Psychology, and preference will be given to candidates whose research will build on existing strengths in Interpersonal and Intergroup Relations. Depending upon qualifications and experience, the position will be either probationary (tenure track) at the rank of Assistant Professor, or, probationary or tenured at the rank of Associate Professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.

Western’s Department of Psychology is consistently ranked as one of the top psychology departments in Canada and internationally. We are a research-intensive department with a strong commitment to graduate and undergraduate education, and have outstanding research facilities. We seek to hire faculty members whose research will help define the future of social psychology, and who are committed to excellence in graduate and undergraduate education. Successful applicants must have excellent communication skills and demonstrate collegiality in a comprehensive psychology department.

Qualified applicants must have a Ph.D. or equivalent degree at the time of application and be internationally recognized for excellence in social psychology research. Candidates must have demonstrated an outstanding research record of publishing in the highest quality journals, evidence of research funding success, supervision of undergraduate and/or graduate students. Research areas that build on, or complement, existing research strength in the current cluster of research excellence in Social, Social Development, and Personality Psychology will be given preference. Successful candidates will be expected to establish and maintain a vigorous externally-funded research program; teach and supervise undergraduate and graduate research trainees; and demonstrate a track record of creative, innovative and scientifically rigorous approaches to research.
