The Psychology Department at the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) invites applications for two (2) full-time tenure-track assistant professor positions, one in Industrial/Organizational (I/O) Psychology and the second in I/O or Social Psychology. These appointments will commence August 21, 2017.
We are seeking teachers/scholars who are committed to effective pedagogy, have experience conducting research with human participants of relevance to industrial/organizational or social psychology, and who possess the interest and ability to establish an active high quality research program that involves undergraduate and graduate students.
I/O PSYCHOLOGY: The area of research specialty is open; however, to complement current faculty in the department and within the I/O track of the graduate program, it is preferred that applicants have research experience in the areas of leadership, motivation, organizational development and culture, workplace health and employee wellbeing, or system-wide or multi-level interventions and change with a focus on globalization, cultural differences, and diversity in the workplace. Candidates with a strong quantitative background and the ability to teach graduate level advanced statistics courses, as well as with an established record of applied organizational or community-based I/O projects and research and/or consulting experience, are preferred.
SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY: The area of research specialty is open; however, to complement current faculty in the department and within the I/O and Experimental tracks of the graduate program, it is preferred that applicants have research experience in the application of social psychology to organizational or health issues or, more generally, in the areas of social psychophysiology or social neuroscience.
Successful candidates for both positions will have received a doctoral degree in Psychology with a specialty in Industrial/Organizational Psychology, Social Psychology, or highly related field from an accredited institution by July 1, 2017.
Successful candidates will be expected to: (1) teach courses in the department's undergraduate and graduate programs (e.g., I/O Psychology, Personnel Psychology, Organizational Psychology, Performance Evaluation and Management, Training and Development, Organizational Systems and Development, Statistics, Research Methods, Social Psychology, and Group Dynamics); (2) actively engage in research with undergraduate and graduate students; (3) contribute to our Industrial/Organizational and Experimental tracks within the Master’s program, including supervision of graduate students’ research projects; (4) advise undergraduate and graduate students; and 5) participate in departmental and university service.
