Job Description and Responsibilities:

The Research Associate will provide program and research support to middle schools participating in a large scale Department of Education Research grant to test the efficacy of a psychology-based program for adolescents. Key tasks include leading on-the-ground support of teachers and classrooms with program implementation, conducting regular classroom visits and observations, management and documentation of program activities and progress, assisting and leading professional learning, and school recruitment. Ideal candidates will have experience and a strong interest in educational research. Priority will be given to candidates who have a background in social or educational psychology and research, and/or the management of grants, as well as those with experience working in schools. In addition, candidates should be detailed oriented, able to work well independently, and have excellent communication skills.

Main qualifications:

• Recent graduate, MA in an educational or psychology related field preferred;
• Strong interest in social and/or educational psychology and research, including work on growth mindset
• 3+ years experience working on or leading empirical research in psychology or education
• Preference for candidates with experience working on federal grants and/or those who have previously worked in schools in a teaching, coaching or leadership position
• Ability to travel regularly to participating NYC area schools, with some virtual work
• Experience with statistics and/or qualitative research a plus
