The University of Connecticut's Department of Psychology seeks a Ph.D. Behavioral Scientist to work on a newly funded research project headed by Dr. Jeffrey D. Fisher. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. and a strong background in his/her field of preferably Social, Health, or Clinical Psychology, and should be familiar with laboratory and survey research design and analysis. Candidates should also have expertise regarding HIV risk reduction interventions in at risk populations. High level statistical abilities including multivariate analysis and structural equation modeling are highly desirable, but not essential. The primary responsibility will be to assist in the implementation and evaluation of a large-scale clinician delivered HIV risk reduction intervention among HIV+ patients in HIV care clinics in two urban areas in Connecticut. Although the project is housed at the Center for HIV Intervention and revention (CHIP) at the University of Connecticut, Storrs campus, the research will be carried out in conjunction with Dr. William A. Fisher (University of Western Ontario, Ontario, Canada) and Dr. Gerald Friedland (Yale University). Other duties include: interaction with clinicians, nurses, and health educators, data collection, data analysis, writing of journal articles related to this research, writing of grant proposals, and conducting both basic and applied research related to health behavior change, including adherence to medical regimen.
