The Center For Policing Equity, a research and action think tank addressing issues of race, gender and policing, seeks an accomplished Research Director to help create and execute a progressive and innovative research agenda.

Reporting to the Executive Director; working collaboratively with the President, Director of Operations, and other executive staff; and managing a team of bright project coordinators, staff, and interns, the RD will supervise and manage the Center’s multiple projects as well as provide oversight of databases, statistical reports, data summaries, graphic collateral of our research, and research papers. The RD will be self-motivated; able to meet tight deadlines in a dynamic work environment; and have a high level of attention to detail and organization.

An innate multitasker, detail-oriented manager, and solid communicator, our ideal RD will also liaise between the Center for Policing Equity and its academic, law enforcement, and other external stakeholders. S/he will be asked to represent CPE and its work at conference, meetings, and sometimes with media outlets. S/he will lend their expertise to the development of campaigns with the Communications and Policy directors to extend the influence of CPE’s research and to promote its work.

ADDITIONAL KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and review analyses for research project data, write and issue briefs, and contribute to the preparation and dissemination of information
• Collaboratively produce and/or edit research reports and materials that promote the work of the Center and its collaborators.
• Build and provide sufficient support for a community of innovative researchers to enhance research capacity at the CPE and to increase internal and external research opportunities for all affiliated faculty, post-doctoral fellows, and graduate students

QUALIFICATIONS:
• PhD in social science or other related field
• Experience in academic and nonprofit/advocacy settings
• Demonstrated interest in social justice and/or policing
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with diverse personalities in a wide variety of professional backgrounds and experiences
• Relevant research project management experience in translational research
• Advanced data analytic skills in social sciences, public policy, or related field
• Public speaking experience a plus
• Demonstrated managerial and leadership experience over a large professional staff
• Demonstrated skill in monitoring longitudinal projects and coordinating players to adhere to deadlines
• Availability and flexibility to travel
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with law enforcement partners, researchers and a large multi-institutional network of collaborators
