Position Summary: The Department of Criminology in the College of Social Sciences at California State University, Fresno is accepting applications for a tenure-track position in Forensic Behavioral Sciences at the rank of Assistant Professor with a Fall 2015 start date. The primary responsibilities for this position are to teach in the undergraduate and graduate Criminology programs, conduct scholarly research, and engage in service related activities. Opportunities to teach in specialty areas of Forensic Behavioral Sciences are available. Other duties will include, but are not limited to, advising criminology students, participating in program development, and committee service at all levels of University governance. Outcomes assessment and service learning are important components of the University curriculum.

Overview: The Department serves the San Joaquin Valley and the expanding global community by offering a quality educational opportunity for qualified students at the certificate, minor, baccalaureate, and graduate levels. The Department recognizes the importance of servicing the academic community, and supports and contributes to the General Education program. The Department offers specializations in Law Enforcement, Victimology, Corrections, and Forensic Behavioral Sciences. The Department encourages and supports an environment that promotes the critical examination and discussion of criminological thought and inquiry at every academic program level. Required Education: An earned doctorate in a Science or Social Science program from an accredited institution (or equivalent) is required; however, applicants nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) may be considered. For continued employment in the tenure track position, the doctorate must be completed by August 12, 2016. Applicants with only a J.D. and/or master's degree are not eligible for this position.

Required Experience: 1) Successful teaching experience at the undergraduate level (experience as a graduate teaching assistant is acceptable); 2) clinical and/or research experience involving the relationship between biology and behavior; and 3) the ability to demonstrate a commitment to working effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse ethnic, cultural, and socioeconomic background.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with a record of scholarly presentations and/or publications are preferred. Preferred candidates also will have demonstrable research expertise that may include, but is not limited to, clinical and/or research experiences in areas such as biopsychology, neuropsychology, and neuroscience. Knowledge of the nexus between the behavioral sciences and the civil and criminal justice systems is desirable.
