Prof. Nikos Ntoumanis invites applications for a PhD scholarship award to start within the next six months. A possible topic could be on ways in which motivational networks created by peers can promote physical activity in youth. However, other topics are also possible (e.g., reducing weight stigma, self-regulation of weight management goals, physical activity promotion in clinical and community settings) as long as they are within Prof. Ntoumanis’ areas of research:

Interested students are invited to email Prof. Ntoumanis (Nikos.Ntoumanis@curtin.edu.au) and discuss their research ideas. The work will involve, but is not limited to, designing studies, collecting and analysing quantitative and possibly qualitative data, presenting at conferences, and writing up papers for peer-reviewed publications. The position would suit someone who aspires to an academic career. Ideally, the candidate will have a postgraduate qualification in health/exercise/social psychology, however, the position is also open to students with an excellent first degree in one of these areas.

The PhD stipend is approximately AUS $25,392 per annum (tax free) and tuition fees will be waived. This amount is indexed by the government each year approximately by 3 -4%. A Curtin University application form can be found at:
