THE PSYCHOLOGY DEPARTMENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MARYLAND, COLLEGE PARK seeks a distinguished scientist in the area of social psychology to join its faculty. Although candidates at the senior rank are preferred, exceptional candidates at the rank of associate or assistant professor will be also be considered. The primary criteria for this position are an exceptional record of scholarly productivity, a history of extramural support, capacity to attract and successfully train graduate students, and a commitment to advancing the department’s educational mission at both the graduate and undergraduate levels. Area of specialization is open, but the candidate’s research interests should complement and extend the present faculty’s interests in social cognition, groups, and interpersonal relations. Excellence in the criteria listed above supercedes the importance of area of specialization. Applications from women and members of ethnic minorities are particularly encouraged.
