Our client is a well recognized company and market leader with headquarters in Northeast Ohio. They have a newly created position for a Social and Behavioral Sciences Director. The role reports to the Global Marketing Vice President and will provide leadership and scientific expertise to company leadership working closely with multiple levels within the organization including but not limited to: Global Marketing (includes Marketing, Market Research, Product Management and Marketing Services); Skin Science; Dispensing Systems; HR & OD; Compliance; Office of the Chair, e.g., CEO and Board Chair; VP; President; GM’s (including N. America, International and US Health Care etc). The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of translating Social and Behavioral Science know-how to help identify and solve business challenges.
Responsibilities (includes but not limited to the following):
•Builds Department vision, mission, strategies, goals, processes, structure, and competencies required to apply the Social and Behavioral Sciences know-how to the business.
•Sources and identifies professional colleagues and research evidence, develops, and integrates a network of Social and Behavioral Sciences colleagues for the company and establishes robust external networks to identify people and research laboratory resources.
•Develops a broad and deep network of strong external relationships with academic and consulting Social and Behavioral Scientists around the world to form a cadre of affiliated consultants who can apply Social and Behavioral Sciences know-how in support of business outcomes.
Qualifications:
•For applicants from academia (minimum level of Associate Professor with attendant publication record) or For applicants from industry, consulting, or contract research: Ph.D. in Social and Behavioral Sciences or related field (including sub-specialties such as social influence or marketing, habit formation and maintenance, and group decision-making).
•10+ years of experience solving applied problems using Social and Behavioral Sciences.
•Strong leadership skills with ability to communicate and collaborate effectively through oral, written and presentation skills with all levels within a highly matrixes environment.
•Social Psychology proficiencies that include behavior change, person perception and social influence; ability to translate basic science into solutions for applied business problems.
•Experience leading new initiatives and ideally has designed and developed a start-up department.
•Strong organizational and time management skills; able to work independently and within a team.
•Must be a “hands on influencer” who can inspire and motivate others while managing enterprise Purpose and Vision. Must be able to juggle multiple priorities, remaining adaptable to change.
•Must be an innovative and creative thinker with the ability to create the new and different.
•Administrative experience in a department, center, institute or consulting practice preferred.
