Job Description:
The Psychology and Applied Therapies Division is seeking a full-time, 12-month Division Director to manage an undergraduate division with 5 rapidly growing programs: Art Therapy, Counseling, Expressive Arts Therapy, Holistic Psychology, and Psychology (on campus, online, and regional). The Division Director holds academic, pedagogical, fiscal and administrative responsibilities; represents the Division to internal and external constituencies; manages division faculty, administrators, and staff; participants in cross-university curriculum initiatives; and provides vision for the Division. The Director is a member of the College of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies Leadership Team, the College’s leadership and planning team. Position holds faculty rank of Associate or Full Professor. The position will begin July 1, 2013.
Requirements:
• The Director must hold an earned doctorate in Psychology, Art Therapy, Counseling, Expressive Arts Therapy or an appropriate related field.
• Significant leadership and administrative experience in issues of higher education, strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation is required.
• The successful candidate must have a demonstrated knowledge of traditional and holistic perspectives in the field of psychology as well as an understanding of the fields of art therapy, counseling, and expressive arts therapy.
• The candidate must also have demonstrated administrative experience and teaching experience working with undergraduate students in Psychology, Art Therapy, Counseling, or Expressive Arts Therapy.
• The Director should have excellent verbal and written communication skills, excellent attention to detail, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and manage administrative processes.
• A commitment to excellence in teaching and a record of academic scholarship in Psychology, Art Therapy, Counseling, or Expressive Arts Therapy;
• A demonstrated commitment to diversity and the ability to work in collaboration with faculty, administrators, staff and students is necessary.
• The Director must be able to set and manage multiple priorities, analyze situations, handle complex data, and be savvy about using technology.
• Experience with traditional and adult learners at the undergraduate level, with a variety of educational delivery systems, and with college/school/community-based partnerships is required.
