With support from the University administration, the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland is continuing a phase of substantial growth and dynamic expansion. This year we seek to fill four faculty positions. We invite applications for the following tenure-track or tenured positions:

Social Psychology (Associate to Full Professor). We seek to hire a social psychologist with interests in interpersonal relations and group processes (broadly defined), in particular as they interface with affective, motivational and judgment and decision making phenomena. Applicants whose interests also span research in conflict/aggression, cultural differences and other areas within the department are particularly appealing. Applications for the Social position should be submitted online through the following link:

Clinical Psychology (Assistant Professor): The Clinical Program is an APA-accredited doctoral program and member of the Academy of Psychological Clinical Science. We seek an individual whose work incorporates neuroscience (broadly defined) in the understanding of psychopathology. The clinical content area is open but candidates studying adult mood and anxiety disorders will be of particular interest. Successful candidates will contribute broadly to the translational research efforts across programs including the development of the newly opened Maryland Neuroimaging Center and the Brain and Behavior Labs (providing fMRI, MEG, EEG, and other resources). Applications for the Clinical position should be submitted online through the following link:

A key aspect of our department is that many faculty members participate in more than one program, thereby fostering a rich web of collaborations throughout the department. For all positions, candidates who can contribute to other areas in addition to the one they are targeting are especially encouraged to apply. A full description of the Maryland Psychology Department can be viewed at:

http://psychology.umd.edu/

Successful candidates for all positions will have a record of, or demonstrated potential of, securing external funding, excellent research productivity, and interest in forming collaborative research ties within and across programs and departments. A strong commitment to teaching and mentorship at both the undergraduate and graduate levels is expected.

Salary is highly competitive, research conditions are excellent, and there are extensive opportunities for interdisciplinary collaboration both on campus and at universities and Federal laboratories in the Washington DC and Baltimore metropolitan areas.

The University of Maryland is an Affirmative Action/Equal Employment Opportunity Employer. For best consideration, materials should arrive by October 1, 2012. All searches will remain open until filled.
