The Department of Psychology at Columbus State University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position with specialization in either Cognitive or Social Psychology to begin August 2012. We are seeking applicants with a Ph.D. at the time of appointment and demonstrated teaching and research skills. Teaching responsibilities include courses in cognitive or social psychology, research design/methodology with lab, general psychology, and other courses in the applicant’s areas of expertise. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program mentoring undergraduate students, assist in academic advising, and contribute to the service needs of the department, college and university. Laboratory space is available, including technology for cognitive experiments and behavioral observation. The candidate will join a team of colleagues with expertise in biological, developmental, clinical, personality, and behavior analysis.

Doctorate in Psychology with expertise in either cognitive or social psychology is required. Experience in teaching Psychology at the baccalaureate level is desired. A successful criminal background check will be required as a condition of employment. Application packets should include a letter of interest delineating relevant credentials/experiences, current curriculum vitae, copies publications/presentations, statement of philosophy of teaching, statement of research agenda, and three letters of recommendation. Applicants must have the ability to meet Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) requirements, in particular a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching discipline.
