The Role

The Department of Psychology is a thriving centre of excellence in
research and teaching with around 450 undergraduates, 100 postgraduates
and 35 academic staff. In the recent RAE (December 2008) our research
activity was rated in the top 25 of UK psychology departments (there are
around 100 psychology departments in the UK), with 50% of our research
being judged to be internationally excellent or world-leading. Our
research-led teaching is also highly rated; in the 2008 National Student
Survey our ratings for the quality of our teaching was in the top
quarter of UK departments. We support 5 MSc programmes and have two more
coming on stream in the near future.

You will have a PhD and a track record of relevant research, published in
international peer-reviewed journals, plus evidence of, or clear plans for
developing, an externally-funded research programme. You will demonstrate
the enthusiasm and skills to teach students, and supervise their research,
at all levels of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
