The University of Houston Department of Psychology is seeking two researchers/postdoctoral fellows with a PhD in Social or Health Psychology or relevant disciplines who are strong in methodology and are interested in applying relevant knowledge in health domains. The fellows will have the freedom and opportunity to pursue one or several lines of research within the broad scope of pain, cancer, emotion regulation, and culture/ethnicity.

The first line of research uses a biopsychosocial model to gain understanding of pain, emotion regulation, and ethnic differences. For candidates who are interested in the first position, previous skills and knowledge about laboratory pain research, psychoneuroimmunology, or psychophysiology is a plus but not a requirement. Candidates who are well trained in the study of emotion, emotion regulation, cognition, relationship, stigma, and individual differences are also welcome.

The second line of research focuses on understanding cancer survivorship, and developing and testing psychosocial interventions for Chinese cancer patients in community settings; for this position, bilingual skill is a plus but not a requirement. For the second position, candidates who are well trained in psychology, public health, social work, or other behavioral science are welcome.

The fellows will be expected to actively engage in developing and implementing study protocol, analyzing data, and writing manuscripts and grants. The fellows will have opportunity to be trained with grant writing, travel to conferences, and mentor outstanding graduate students and undergraduate students.
