Duke University is accepting applications and nominations for the Chauncey Stillman Professorship in Practical Ethics to begin fall 2009. This tenured full professor position is a full-time appointment shared equally between an Arts & Science department (the tenure home) and the Kenan Institute for Ethics. The Kenan Institute for Ethics is one of seven signature university institutes engaged in interdisciplinary scholarship, teaching and practice. We are seeking a truly interdisciplinary scholar whose training may be in any number of fields (including, for example, psychology, sociology, philosophy, political science, history and public policy) and whose work probes the areas of moral education and development, moral psychology and enculturation, and the complex forces that shape moral qualities and actions. We are seeking an outstanding scholar who will want to contribute to building the Institute’s core programs and to interact with many departments, organizations, and students across the campus and outside the university.
