 Part-Time Statistician
Institution/Organization: University of Colorado, Boulder
Job Location: Colorado, U.S.A.
Contact Person: Sarah Wert
Date Posted: December 11th, 2007
Web Site: http://psych-www.colorado.edu/

Researchers at University of Colorado at Boulder are interested in hiring a statistician expert in analysis of nested, multivariate, longitudinal data sets. Applicants *must * be currently expert in HLM (Hierarchical Linear Modeling), regression analysis, and ANOVA and ANCOVA. Must also be familiar with the use of HLM for longitudinal analyses of individual growth trajectories. Expertise in SPSS is required. Must also be able to write up the results of statistical analyses in a professional form acceptable to academic journals.

Our data set, generated over the past 5 years in a middle-school, includes state achievement test scores, grades in school for each quarter, students' performance at a micro-level as assessed by their teachers’ grade books, survey assessments administered 2-3 times per year, etc. The data set is complex in terms of its hierarchical nature, with students nested within schools and classrooms (students are randomized to a treatment or control condition at the level of individual student, within classroom).

The statistician will be responsible for working with the investigators to identify and execute appropriate statistical analyses for this data set. His or her qualifications would preferably include a doctorate in life sciences, education, statistics, or other related field, and experience analyzing databases similar to those involved in this project. Expertise is more critical than level of academic degree.

The position is approximately 50% time, and could be made as a CU employee or as a consultant. The salary is dependent on qualifications.

Qualified applicants are asked to send a cover letter, resume, and references to: sarah.wert@colorado.edu
