Midwestern State University. Visiting, Assistant Professor of Psychology

The Psychology Department at Midwestern State University invites applications for a one-year, non-renewable faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin August 2018. Wichita Falls, TX is home to Midwestern State University. Wichita Falls is a quiet community located in North Central Texas, approximately two hours from both the Dallas/Ft. Worth metroplex and Oklahoma City. Midwestern State University is a leading public liberal arts university committed to providing students with a rigorous undergraduate and graduate education. Midwestern State University prides itself on an emphasis on teaching, undergraduate research participation, and high-impact teaching.

Position:

This is primarily a teaching appointment. Therefore, the appointed faculty member will teach four courses in both the fall and spring semester of the 2018-2019 academic year. (Although the appointed faculty member will teach four courses each semester, only three unique courses will be taught during a single semester.) The appointed faculty member will teach Introductory Psychology, Social Psychology, and Developmental Psychology. Additionally, the appointed faculty member will fulfill duties consistent with the position as assigned by the chair.

Required Qualifications:

The successful candidate must:

• have earned a doctorate in Experimental Psychology, or a closely related area, by August 2018
• demonstrate a commitment to high-quality undergraduate education; and,
• demonstrate the ability to work collegially.

Preferred Qualifications:

The Search Committee is particularly interested in candidates with previous experience implementing high-impact teaching practices (e.g., learning communities, service learning)
